Not only is Environmental Day a great way to meet your state legislators and see the State Legislature up close and personal, it’s also really fun! We promise! You’ll be able to ride up to Phoenix in a comfy bus with other folks from Tucson and get to meet other environmental advocates from around the state. In years past, everyone who’s gone has said what a worthwhile, educational, and fun experience they had.

We will meet in the old Capitol in the morning and everyone will be paired with an experienced leader from their legislative district. Then, throughout the day and as a group, you will meet with your own legislators in the House and Senate buildings to discuss important environmental bills, both good and bad. It is a great opportunity to learn more about the legislative process, current environmental bills under consideration by the Legislature, and to make a difference.  When you are not in meetings, you can attend committee hearings, caucuses, and sessions of the House and Senate as a member of the public in the audience. You can signup for the day here.

We will keep you updated when a current agenda of the day is available, but it will include Clarkdale Mayor Doug Von Gausig as a key speaker, briefing on key bills, and tours of the capitol.

Want to prepare? Then don’t miss the Tucson Citizen Lobby Workshop on January 29th from 5:30pm to 7:30pm at the Historic Y. This is a fun and informative way to become familiar with the Arizona Legislature and citizen lobbying. Click here for more information.
