Now is your chance to provide feedback and ideas for the future of Oro Valley! The town is currently looking for input on its draft “Vision and Guiding Principles” as part of the General Plan update. These outline what matters most to Oro Valley residents based on previous comments, and will be used as a framework to guide future decisions and policies. This project is called, “Your Voice, Our Future“, and it’s a great way to support natural resource conservation, open space, and wildlife corridors!
The Town is accepting public comments on the draft Guiding Principles and Vision Statement, which will be sent to the Planning and Zoning Commission this month for review and recommendation. Two of these guiding principles specifically focus on ensuring environmental integrity and the conservation of natural resources, like open space! By providing your feedback to the second and last guiding principle, natural resource protection, wildlife linkages, and open spaces can be top priorities! This will lead to improved ecosystem health and connected habitat for wildlife. Input on these issues will help provide detail to the principles as the General Plan evolves.
Want to get involved even more? “Your Voice, Our Future” is recruiting committee members to serve on three topic-specific committees. These committees will begin to meet this summer and will be responsible for drafting policies and goals for the community’s future. More information and an application can be found here.
Please provide your comments today supporting a future community where open spaces are valued, wildlife movement is maintained, and ecosystem health is a priority. By providing your thoughts to the “Your Voice, Our Future” project, we can ensure that the integrity of the Sonoran Desert is protected and that a healthy natural environment is a core priority for Oro Valley.
