On September 17th, the purchase was closed on Painted Hills, making it permanently protected! Now this 286-acre community treasure will be added to Tucson Mountain Park, further connecting important habitat and preserving unspoiled Sonoran Desert. In August, the Board of Supervisors, on a vote of 4 to 1 (Ally Miller opposed), approved the purchase agreement to make the acquisition a reality. The cost will be $7.5 million plus interest and will be completed in five years.
Painted Hills is located between W. Speedway Blvd. and W. Anklam Rd. west of downtown Tucson. We hope you will go out and experience this beautiful area for yourself (and bring a friend)! Thank you again for your ongoing consistent support and strong voice to make Painted Hills a protected place that can be enjoyed forever by residents and visitors alike. This would not have been possible without you.
